2310-3-Otherworldly Escape - The Third Path

Cover: "The Funeral of Fureliyan." For the first time, I feel that the animation I watched has such high quality. In the future, I should try to watch downloaded sources as much as possible.

Life Record#

"202310-2-Dragon and Tiger-Start Action", I deleted it. In the past two weeks, I haven't done much besides work because the company's product has entered the public testing phase, and there are many bugs that need fixing, as well as many designs that need adjustments. So it took me two weeks to squeeze out this weekly journal.

I will also try to write some articles introducing command-line tools, which will also involve the use of x-cmd, and serve as practice for the company's documentation. It's rare to have a personal KPI that aligns with the company's KPI. (It's not because I want to ride the wave of the company's project traffic)

I had been concerned about the promotion of the company's project, but after thinking it over, if I write some introductions under my own name, it might be a bit easier without so many constraints. It allows me to open up my writing thoughts and also lets me think more deeply about whether some designs have issues. The following is our project's repository, and everyone is welcome to star it.

x-cmd: Bootstrap 1000+ command line tools in seconds.

For example, running the following two commands will show you the help documentation for our various modules. (Although many details are still rough, the functionality is quite substantial)

(The following is a demonstration of one percent of the functionality, so feel free to look forward to it)

Otherworldly Escape#

Recently, I caught up on "Dragon and Tiger" and "The Familiar of Zero," both of which are animations from over a decade ago. They are works from my elementary and middle school days.

Dragon and Tiger#

What a pure campus romance story, with no otherworldly elements or swords and magic—just campus, youth, and love.

A work from 15 years ago, I dare say I knew about it ten years ago. Now that I truly watch this work, it's not so much about the plot. What hits me is that suffocating feeling of the past being irreversible and the sense of lost youth.

Although I still feel quite juvenile and "know nothing," when I catch up on this work now, who can I discuss the plot with? Who can I discuss the characters with? The emotions cannot be vented.

(Looking at this cover gives a strong sense of nostalgia)

The Familiar of Zero#

Sometimes, before the author passes away, their work has already died.

Ten years after the author's death, I completed the four seasons of the animation in one day. It turns out that F means final; truly, there are loopholes everywhere and absurd plots everywhere. However, as someone who experienced it back then, I can still accept it.

Watching this work feels like reading the diary of a close friend I never knew who has passed away. I haven't met him, but he is already presented to me as an obituary. If I had been following this series back then, I would have been very happy. I always thought this story was still ongoing, and even if the story ended, its author might still be writing other works.

As someone who usually reads comics, finishing a work is a rare experience for me. Especially for works where the author has also "finished," it can no longer be jokingly referred to as "in my lifetime."

I can't say something irresponsible like "some people die, but they still live on." Just as there are no two identical leaves in the world, every work has its irreplaceable aspects. I can no longer know the story of Louise and Saito after this, nor can I expect a fifth season. Whether it's someone else continuing the story or my own imagination, it's no longer their true story.

A work is somewhat like another life of the author; it defines another soul of the author. The author's period is also the work's period; the work's period is the author's period.

I know what this feeling is now. In the past, I might have called it the anticipation of "in my lifetime," but if the author has died, that anticipation can no longer continue. Some works may have ended, but their authors are still writing other works, and at that time, I might still have a glimmer of hope, imagining that the stories of that world are still ongoing.

The Story of Our Generation#

I find that ACG is the story that our generation has just begun. Most works, from our perspective, are either "unfinished" or "may have sequels." But this is just a coincidence; over time, various authors will pass away. Their works will eventually come to an end. While it's quite satisfying to binge-watch a completed work, I actually prefer to watch it while it's ongoing and predict the future plot with friends.

However, recently, a friend told me that my concentration on the second dimension is too high.

L: Now I kind of want to tell you to lighten the concentration and try different types of things. That would be better.
L: Describing the reasons is too troublesome; you can think about it yourself.
ME: I also feel like I need to quit.
L: You know what I mean.
ME: This is pure cyber alcohol; I "drink" every day after work.
L: Similar, but not quite. Some people output from this. That's the sommelier. They introduce various kinds of wine to the audience. So that doesn't count as pure drinking.

Works & Overall Ratings?#

"Misaligned Revenge": I watched for about 3 hours and realized this is my first time watching such a non-dramatic historical story outside of class. Perhaps deep down, I don't really like watching history? However, being forced by the reading library to watch some books I wouldn't normally read is quite nice.

Postscript#

The final weekly journal still turned out to be this messy. Recently, I've actually been writing a bit more; I'll introduce it later.
